Nathan and Emily

Emily and Nathan's wedding day was just beautiful.

All of our family were able to be there. It was so fun to have everyone together.

David, Sharon, Stacy and Nicole came out from Utah to be with us.

Here is the whole group

Between the wedding and reception we took alittle time for family pictures. We haven't all been together since 2005 and there have been a few additions

These are our darling grandchildren.

.Saramarie did a beautiful job on the wedding cake

The cake was delicious

This is a fun German tradition. The bride and groom cut a heart out of a sheet with dull scissors. It was just a wonderful day.

Thanks Cricut Goo Roos!

So we are crafting, all on our own. I got a Cricut for Christmas and I figured out how to make shapes and use downloaded fonts ad it has unleashed Rachel! She finds an idea and we pick colors and paper, she sands and sometimes paints and I cricut! ( It's an adjective I just made up) Then we mod podge and we have a holiday craft. I think Laurie would be proud to see us crafting on our own... We just made this lucky sign with a sparkle clover.
A couple of weeks ago we made this True Love Sign. Seriously loving this Cricut and the Sure Cuts a Lot Program and the Inkscape studio (it's free) then I can make all my own shapes! Amber and Debbie and Sharon really helped so much with all oof the advice on a Cricut! I love it! We even made potato shapes and a cow for Acacia's school poster and little shapes for Zander's Valentine box!

Ottley Family Christmas Party

Rich and I got to be at the Ottley Christmas Party this year and it was wonderful. It was so good to see everyone there. The kids are growing up so fast. We counted 77 people there out of about 112. Wow!!! We missed all who were not there. Thanks so much to Don and Jana for hosting the evening. It was just so much fun.

This is a video of pictures we took throughout the evening. Some of the pictures are a little fuzzy but we sure had a good time.

Updated Family Photos

Our family finally took new family pictures this month.  Here's the one of my little family, and there are lots more over on my blog monkeytownmom.blogspot.com.

Kyle, Emma, Stacy, Leo

As a little update for those who don't read my blog, Emma is a little over four years old, and Leo will be three in two weeks.  Crazy!  We are thoroughly enjoying summer.  The kids can't get enough of water: backyard pools, water slides, splash parks, sprinklers, water balloons, etc., etc!

Emma will be starting preschool again in September and is incredibly excited for that.  She loves learning, especially anything science-y.  She is one chatty girl and will talk the ears off of anyone who will listen.   Leo has been working with Kids on the Move for the last year.  He has a speech delay and some developmental delays, and we're fairly convinced that he is on the autism spectrum.  He is one little ball of energy and has a fun sense of humor.  He will graduate out of Kids on the Move when he turns three and then will start preschool with the school district in September.  He's made so much progress this last year, and we're looking forward to the next year.  They're fun kids and definitely keep us on our toes!

James' Blog

Hi!  I figured I'd post this... We've unrestricted our Blog so everyone can view it.  James does pretty much all the bloging because he's the 'creative' writter and after his posts how can I compete?

New Family Picture!

We just took a new family picture! We go to Delta and this amazing guy comes down every year as a fundraiser for the cheerleaders and takes pictures. The Griffiths' always take a picture of us all together and we take the opportunity to take our family picture as well! This year Keith and Laurie gave it to us as a wonderful Mother's Day present! So this is Joshua, Liz, Casey and Acacia Griffiths! I thought it would be cool if everyone might post a family picture so we can see all the kids and their names next to them... If you can - that would be great!

World Class Graduate!

Thought I would post the video for those interested!

The Tassel’s Worth the Hassle!

My Uncle Terwilliger on the Art of Eating Popovers
By Theodor Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss

My uncle ordered popovers
From the restaurant's bill of fare.
And, when they were served,
He regarded them with a penetrating stare . . .

Then he spoke great Words of Wisdom
As he sat there on that chair:
“To eat these things,” said my uncle,
“You must exercise great care.”

“You may swallow down what's solid . . .
BUT . . .
You must spit out the air!”

And as you partake of the world's bill of fare,
That's darned good advice to follow.
Do a lot of spitting out the hot air
And be careful what you swallow!

~ Dr. Seuss

Lake Forest College by Theodor Seuss Geisel; June 4, 1977

Mckenzie graduated from Lone Peak High School on May 28, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.—a class of almost 700! A year ago when I began going to a new health professional I expressed the desire to be able to attend my youngest daughter's graduation activities this year. However, I had no idea how that was going to happen, as I still had little men hammering in my brain and difficulty being upright for great lengths of time! So I'm so grateful to have participated and been able to be there and witness her final days of high school. I even got to see her last three school plays!

Following the graduation ceremony, the school bused all the graduates to a "fun center" for an all night grad party. They returned everyone at 5:30 a.m. They weren't allowed to attend the party if they didn't go on the bus. I think they've discovered by trial and error that they have more control when not having the party at the school, where they can come and go freely. So now instead of our donations, they just ask for a specific fee and they do everything! It was kinda’ nice though and Kenz had fun—rides, games, skating, movies, and food!

Things have changed in other ways too since our last graduate. I guess we no longer rent the caps and gowns! It appears that we purchased them with our grad package! Who knew? I assumed it was a rental fee. Kenzi wore her cap and gown home and didn't have to turn it in to get her real diploma! Maybe the cost of cleaning just isn't worth it anymore in our “throw away” world. Also, the graduates weren't allowed to throw their caps in the air after they were congratulated. It is apparently politically offensive to some group or another! It’s a different world for sure—kinder in some ways, yet so politically aware of offending others that some fun traditions have been discontinued. ~ By Linda

Here’s our Mckenzie in the grad necklaces her sister’s made (they also weren’t allowed to wear these until after the ceremony—only their traditional cap and gown and honor’s cords).

Ashley made a necklace of chocolate and candy—a must for every grad! Liz made the traditional necklace of electrical tape, safety chain, plugs, lamps, and tie line wrapped in R35 gel—in honor of her technical theater experience in high school! Just what every girl needs!

Seriously, all her sisters spoil her and are very supportive of their baby sis. Now she’s off to the Y in the fall! She’s excited!!

“The finish line is just the beginning of a whole new race!”

Chicken Tortilla Soup

Several people asked my mom to post the recipe for her soup she brought to the party. So here you go!

1 Rotisserie Chicken - skin and shred meat
Family Size Can Chicken & Rice
1 Can Ranch Beans (Pinto or kidney or favorite bean)
1 Can Ro-Tel - original, mild, or hot; depends on personal taste
1 Can Water (I used chicken broth)

Heat through. Serve with Tortilla Chips, Cheese, and Sour Cream.

Funny scary... not really funny haha!

Ok. So I am a little new to the blogging world, but I discovered something new today. Having two blogs complicates things! I tend to post in bulk, like 5-7 posts at a time. So I was doing this tonight, posting quite a bit, with a ton of pictures and trying to hurry, not checking in between. When I went to my blog - NONE OF IT WAS THERE! You more experienced people or those who look at titles at the top of the page will know what happened. In a slight panic I began rummaging around until I realized that I posted all of my family stuff of this website! Which is awesome, by the way, but way too much content! So, when posting in the future, always look at the top and make sure you are posting to the correct blog!

Also, this is sort of exciting for Acacia, She just won the school and area contest for her Reflections Entry and will now go to regions! Yeah Acacia! Here is her movie, in mini, for your viewing pleasure!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

We hope to see everyone at this year's Family Christmas Party!!!

Want To Be An Author?

Hi Family!

So I found a much easier way that you can post on this blog! Apparently, I just have to send you an email invite to "be an author!" Please feel free to email me or Linda (whatever address you have) or leave a comment and I would be glad to add you as an author! We would still love to hear all of the funny, silly things you all have to say!

I Think I'll Go To Boston...

It's been a whole week with no posts, so I'll start off with our family news. Some may, or may not know, but we're moving to Boston next week.

When we tell people, we get a variety of reactions. The main ones are "oh, that's really far away." (family) "oh, wow. That's going to be a change for you" (Bostonians finding out we're moving from IN) and "Wow! You'll be able to do so much!" (everyone)

We make a list of things to do for everywhere we move. So I'm wondering, if you had the chance where would you go? Or if you've been the to Boston area, what would recommend?

This is what I think of when I think of Boston. Also, ever since I've read John Adams, by David McCullough I really want to go to Braintree - did you know they have a whole State Park devoted to John Adams and his family?

Calling All Comments

Hello Ed and Elaine’s Posterity!

Joanne and Ashley have been talking back and forth on email to make this family blog a reality. Ashley took time out from “baby prep” recently to set up the blog for all of us to be able to post family news and share our lives, staying close. Because we all have access to the blog email and password, I think it would be nice if everyone "signed their posts" at the end, so we know who is talking (first name only for safety).

For those of you unfamiliar with blogs and don’t want to post yet, please leave your comments. Just click on “comments” at the end of each post. After you sign in with the family email and password you were given, you can comment as a family blogger, leaving your first name only within your entry, or you create your own google account by following the prompts in the comment box.

Thank you Ashley for volunteering to do this for our family! Our families lives and memories are worth celebrating! ~ Linda

“There's a story behind everything . . . How a picture got on a wall, how a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother's story because hers is where yours begins.” ~ Mitch Albom, For One More Day

Our New Family Blog!

Hello family!!! Welcome to the family blog. Since we got rid of our last family website, we decided we still wanted a way to keep in touch with everyone. Thus, the blog.

So, here's how it's going to work. We have set up a gmail account for this specific blog. We will send out the gmail name and password to all members of the family. This is how you will login to the blog. Feel free to sign in and post any news you want to share, a question or thought you may have, or just a message to say hello! (Just like how we chatted on the old website.) We want to hear from you... even if it's just to let everyone know you have updated your own personal blog. We would love for everyone with a blog to add their blog to the sidebar so the family can keep tabs on you!

If you are looking at this saying, "I don't know how to write on a blog," no problem... we can post a quick guide on how to make a post or you can ask your teenager! And if you don't want to post, feel free to add a comment to someone else's post!

We hope this will be a fun way to keep in touch with our growing family!
Happy Blogging!
